Complete or partial removable dentures need messy pastes and adhesives to remain in your mouth, but implanted dentures are connected to titanium posts in your jawbone in order to be secure and stable. This means that the dentures don't move when you speak or eat. With more support and security, patients with implant dentures can feel confident that their dentures will stay in place. Implant-supported dentures look brilliant and function just like natural teeth. At Southern California Center for Surgical Arts, Sherman Oaks, CA patients can get implant-supported dentures that look natural and feel comfortable. Schedule an appointment with Dr. Husam Elias to learn more.

Unlike removable dentures, implant-supported dentures do not need adhesives or soaking. Implanted dentures have fewer restrictions, and they can be treated just like your natural teeth. The dental implant replaces the natural tooth root so your jawbone and gums are less likely to become weak. During your appointment, Dr. Elias will examine the current condition of your mouth to determine if your jawbone and gums are able to bond with the dental implants. If needed, bone and/or gum graft surgery can be performed to strengthen specific areas before implant surgery.

Local anesthesia will be administered to numb your mouth before the procedure. Sedation options may be considered if the process will be extensive or if it helps you relax. Dr. Elias will make surgical incisions in your gums and place posts in the holes in the jawbone. For dentures, at least four implants are used for each arch. The incisions will be stitched with some of the implanted posts remaining above the gums. A temporary denture will protect the implants as your mouth heals in 4 – 6 months and the implants will integrate with your jawbone and gums. Once Dr. Elias feels the dental implants are strong enough, your custom dentures will be attached to the implants and fitted.

Implant-supported dentures should be cared for just like natural teeth with daily brushing and flossing. You should go to regular cleanings and exams at Southern California Center for Surgical Arts to have the wear and fit of your dentures and implants checked. If you properly care for them, implant-supported dentures can last several years. Dr. Elias can help you decide when your implants or dentures need to be repaired or replaced.

My experience with this office was absolutely stellar. Firstly, the staff welcomes you warmly when you arrive. Diana (doctor’s assistant) met me in the exam room.  Diana has a way of instantly making you feel comfortable and any nervousness you may be feeling is dissipated.... Because you can’t stop laughing. Then enters Dr. Elias.... He is extremely approachable, honest, and knowledgeable. It doesn’t hurt that he has multiple degrees. I am ecstatic that I found this business:

Dr. Elias pulled my wisdom teeth out like they called his mamma fat or something! Surgery was quick and basically painless. Didn’t need any of the pain meds and was back at work two days later looking like a snack. Diane was the nurse that took care of me for most of the process and she was so wonderful, kind, funny and sweet. If my wisdom teeth every grow back, I will definitely be coming back to Dr. Elias immediately. Thank you!
